Overview
- The proposed technical assistance (TA) is for undertaking a detailed surface study for the Meru Geothermal Prospect located in the Arusha Region, Northern Tanzania.
- The overall objective of the technical assistance is to assist the government of Tanzania to increase renewable energy contribution to the generation mix through low emissions of geothermal energy development for the social and economic benefits of the country.

CAA is primarily geared towards providing Canadian technical expertise. If that is not found, then international expertise of the highest quality can be engaged.

Are Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA), geophysical, geochemical surveys included in to $300k budget? Or will the surveys be completed by TGDC under advisory from our team?
The budget allocated included ESIA, and the geoscientific survey. The ESIA study is expected to be conducted after the Conceptual modelling.
We recommend consulting with a tax professional regarding any Tanzanian withholding tax obligations, as tax regulations may vary based on the nature of the work and local laws.
Climate Action Africa will not withhold Tanzanian tax from the Technical Experts. Please ensure all associated costs are accounted for in your financial proposal.
Are travel / accommodation expenses to be included in the bid or do we submit for reimbursement?
Eligible operational costs are identified in the budget template. Eligible expenses will be reimbursed at cost.
The working permit in Tanzania is granted for 2 years, but since the assignment is for 10 months less than a year, we advise you to apply for Business Visa that is granted for 3 months and thereafter be renewed.
Tenderers are required to complete the Organizational Information, Disclosure, Mandatory Acceptance, and Declaration Form included in the RFP package. Please note that organizations must be legally registered in their home country.
Regarding insurance, risk, and duty of care, the scoring criteria document within the RFP package provides further details. Experts are expected to identify additional risks, as well as a description of the plans, systems, and insurances in place to monitor risk and manage emergencies or issues.
No, the project has not yet secured GRMF funding, but we expect to request for funding support at the next stage of resource confirmation.
