Climate change is already affecting food security, water resources, livelihoods, and economic stability across Africa. That is why Canada is helping support concrete, locally led action through Climate Action Africa (CAA), implemented by Alinea International, Econoler, and WSP.
Now in its final year of implementation, CAA is active in 34 sub-Saharan African countries and has delivered 42 technical assistance initiatives and 14 South-South exchange initiatives that are helping countries strengthen climate governance. This support is advancing the implementation of their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and National Adaptation Plans under the Paris Agreement, helping turn climate commitments into concrete action.
To showcase the project’s many impacts, we are pleased to present Season 2 of Canadian Changemakers, a podcast brought to you by Alinea International.
This season explores Canada’s role in supporting climate action in Sub-Saharan Africa through high-impact initiatives funded by Global Affairs Canada, including two episodes highlighting the successes of Climate Action Africa.
Hosted by Gabrielle Lepage, Communications Advisor at Alinea, the season focuses on the work of Canadian experts partnering with local communities to strengthen climate resilience and promote gender-responsive approaches to climate finance and the implementation of climate-related policies.
Learn more about initiatives ranging from empowering local women leaders in Malawi to providing technical assistance for supporting climate-smart agricultural practices in Nigeria. Each episode shares compelling stories of partnership, innovation, and community-led change in the face of intensifying climate challenges.
As Canada deepens its engagement with Africa on sustainable development and economic resilience, this season offers a closer look at how CAA is helping lay stronger foundations for climate action — enabling countries not only to respond to current climate risks, but also to build a more resilient and sustainable future for communities across the continent.
