James recently joined Alinea as the Climate Adaptation Advisor. James holds a PhD in Natural Resources Management from Egerton University, Kenya. He is based in Nairobi, Kenya and has over 20 years of experience in climate change in various capacities, including as a researcher, educator, mentor, mobiliser, actor, farmer, natural resource manager, and actively explores how to overcome the vulnerability of these sectors to Climate change. James is listed in the UNFCCC roster of experts where he provides specific expertise in the GHG Inventories specifically in, Agriculture, Forestry, and Land Use. He has worked with communities, government and institutions across Africa to develop data and information on Climate Smart agriculture interventions, natural resource management for sustainable livelihoods and use of digital technology in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Cameroon, Ghana and Tanzania. James was most recently a Professor at Karatina University, coordinating the Center for Climate Change and Mountain Studies and here he supported the University conference on purple tea for deforestation free tea value chains, a conference that brought together over 100 researchers, 100 local women, 85 youths and 20 cross boundary climate change activists to share experiences. James is fluent in English, Swahili and Kikuyu and is a father of five children.
