The Permanent Secretariat of the National Council for Sustainable Development (SP/CNDD) is the technical body responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and implementing national sustainable development policies and strategies in Burkina Faso. It plays a central role in integrating climate issues into public policies, consistent with the country’s commitments such as the National Adaptation Plan (NAP), the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), and the long-term national low-carbon development strategy, known as Vision 2050.
The SP/CNDD collaborates with a broad range of stakeholders – government departments, local authorities, NGOs, the private sector, technical and financial partners – ensuring gender considerations and the needs of people with disabilities are included. In a context of rising vulnerability to climate change effects and limited resources, SP/CNDD acts as a catalyst to enhance climate governance at both national and local levels.
