The General Directorate for Sectoral Studies and Statistics (DGESS), a government organisation under the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MESRI) in Burkina Faso. The Direction Générale des Études et des Statistiques Sectorielles (DGESS) is responsible for planning, forecasting, and monitoring and evaluation.
The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation contributes through numerous research programmes established in various research institutions such as universities and research centres. In addition to these institutions, the Ministry has eight (08) national research programmes that outline the government’s research priorities. A gender unit has been established within the Ministry to ensure that gender considerations are integrated into its policies, strategies, and activities; however, operational difficulties and challenges persist.
