In 2001, Mauritania established the National Water Resources Center (CNRE) by Decree No. 177-2021, with the aim of implementing the State’s water resources policy through the implementation of programs to improve knowledge, monitoring, and protection of water resources (groundwater and surface water) throughout the country, and the development of water resources databases.
