The renewable energies sub-sector represents a significant challenge in achieving Senegal’s goal of greater energy independence and security. The national strategy to diversify energy sources is being implemented through the connection of solar, wind and hydro power to the grid by the end of 2019, representing 22% of the country’s total electricity production.
ANER embodies the Senegalese authorities’ commitment to delivering sustainable solutions to the energy crisis that has affected the country for many years. While initially established to address immediate economic, social, and environmental imperatives, ANER has evolved to embrace a more comprehensive and forward-looking mandate, positioning renewable energy as a fundamental driver of national development. ANER works for an inclusive energy transition, based on an intelligent combination of renewable and fossil resources. Its mission encompasses promoting equitable energy access across all socio-economic sectors while simultaneously advancing employment opportunities and environmental sustainability objectives.
