Formally trained in the natural, social, and management sciences, Gioconda has channeled her expertise into driving meaningful change. She is a creative problem-solver with a love for brainstorming. Her 25 years of diverse experience spans leading international programs at the Canadian Cooperative Association and spearheading initiatives in natural resources management, including biodiversity, integrated watershed management, forestry/agroforestry, food security and women’s economic empowerment with CARE Canada, SeedChange, and the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. Her passion is turning innovative ideas into sustainable actions that create lasting impact.
As the Team Leader for the Climate Action Africa project, Gioconda is driven by a collective effort to find impactful solutions and actions to mitigate climate change. She is continuously challenging herself and working alongside her talented team, dedicated partners, and resilient communities to make a tangible difference in the world. Outside of work, she finds balance and inspiration in the kitchen, enjoying the occasional shopping spree, and cherishing quality time with family.
