Sekai is currently working as an international Climate and Forestry Adviser under the Climate Action Africa under Canadian Expert Deployment Mechanism. She brings over 15 years’ experience, working and delivering effectively on various environmental issues under different types of teams, which included national programs, projects, policy, science, multilateral negotiations under the United National Convention on Climate Change ( UNFCCC), Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), in the form of strategic planning, policy development and implementation, technical development of the IPCC Greenhouse Gas Inventory Guidelines, mainly as a, technical expert, facilitator and lead member at both national and international forums. She has previously, worked a Senior Science and Policy Advisor for nearly 6 years at the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change, where was responsible for developing policy on Land use and land use change and Forestry (LULUCF) including Reducing emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD) policy and R&D program for LULUCF/REDD under the UNFCCC, UK Carbon Budgets and EUMM. She graduated with a PhD in Food Science from the University of Surrey. She also holds an MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College, London and lives in Zimbabwe.
